Team Kiwi Racing is poised to return to the top of the podium in this weekend’s final round of the New Zealand Motorsport Championship.
TKR currently sit in first and second position in the BMW Mini Challenge Championship going into the final round at Taupo Motorsport Park this weekend.
It could be case of history repeating itself for TKR who finished first and second when they claimed their first national championship title.
“Everyone in motorsport knows how hard it is to win a national championship regardless of what category that is,” said TKR owner David John. “So to go to Taupo with the chance of finishing first and second in the BMW Mini Challenge is exciting for our team, sponsors and supporters.”
TKR has previously completed a one-two finish in the NZ two litre touring car championship with drivers Jason Richards and Angus Fogg.
Team Kiwi Racing have gone on to win various other national titles since, as well as compete in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship and this year have returned to the V8 Supercar Fujitsu Development Championship.
"We head to Taupo for the final round of the NZ Motorsport Championship this weekend in the same position as when we won the NZ 2.0ltr Touring Car Championship but this time with current TKR drivers Ryan Bailey and Matthew Hamilton who are sitting in first and second positions respectively.
"We are not getting ahead of ourselves as there’s a tough weekend ahead and in motorsport anything can happen.
"This would be a great way to finish this year’s championship off on a high and reward our many loyal TKR supporters and sponsors who have stuck with us through the highs and lows.”
