It is with relief that the track at Powerbuilt Tools International Raceway, Christchurch is undamaged after the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit the region on Saturday 4th September 2010.
Lloyd Proctor the CEO of the Canterbury Car Club said that as a precaution and because of power being lost to the circuit on Saturday, both the Endurance Event scheduled for the Saturday and Sunday's Speed event were called off. A decision will be made soon on whether the Endurance event will be rescheduled.
He went on to say, “Thank you for the many messages of interest and concern received as a result of the earthquake. Our thoughts are with our members, supporters and sponsors who may have received serious damage to their homes or business properties.”
While some of the buildings have suffered minor damage it will not prevent any further events from taking place.
