New and affordable NZ Six takes off this summer

A recent branding restructure within the Super Six and HQ Holden race classes has led to the formation of ‘NZ Six’; a new identity for two of New Zealand’s most iconic entry level touring car categories.

The change comes in the wake of a surge in growth and interest in the Super Six and HQ Holden classes, with between twenty and thirty cars competing at each event on average last season, and more expected for the 2010/11 IRC Series.

A key brand identity for the two categories was devised with the replacement of the current club SCRANZ (Saloon Car Racing Association of New Zealand) name in favour of the new NZ Six brand; a derivative of New Zealand six cylinder racing.

The new NZ Six branding change comes at an important time for the HQ Holden class in particular, with a number of recent changes to the category regulations including the switch to 98 octane petrol from avgas. The engines have been modified to accommodate this and have already proven to be far more reliable with a longer lifespan on parts and consumables.

With the HQ Holden chassis all nearing 40 years of age and the racing still as close and exciting as ever, this classic form of motor racing looks set for many more successful seasons to come.

NZ Six is well regarded as New Zealand’s most affordable touring car racing, with a race-prepared Super Six available for purchase from as little as $12,000, and an HQ Holden from around $4,000.

An exciting season is in store for NZ Six with the IRC Series raising its media profile in all outlets, including television and social media. Those interested in becoming involved with NZ Six can do so by visiting www.scranz.co.nz or getting in touch with David Dovey on either 027 443 6100 or david@exceed.co.nz.
