










Shayne Harris of Palmerston North has been elected president of MotorSport New Zealand succeeding Steven Kennedy, who stepped down after 12 years in the role.
At the sport’s Annual Meeting in Wellington Raymond Bennett of Palmerston North was re-elected vice-president.
A former racer and assistant race director for the sport’s Premier race meetings, Harris has very extensive experience. He is a licensed Clerk of the Course and Steward and has served a wide range of administrative roles since hanging up his race helmet.
In addition to his new responsibilities he is also leading a team responsible for developing a new training programme for the wide range of officials required to run race and rally events.
Steven Kennedy from Otautau in Southland spent 22 years in the national administration of motorsport and will continue to serve in a range of international roles including as a steward for the FIA, a member of the FIA’s World Touring Car Commission and as chairman of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship.
