Statement from V8 SuperTourers in regard to V8 Challenge Cup cars

"We are pleased that MotorSport New Zealand has clarified the position on the inclusion of Schedule TL-complying NZV8-spec cars in our inaugural V8 Challenge Cup Series" said Paul Radisich, CEO of V8 SuperTourers Ltd.

“We will announce the full entry list on the 10th February. However, we already have the likes of Andrew Anderson, Matt Lockwood and rally-star Glen Inkster amongst others who have signed up and we know of at least six more TL cars that can now participate without jeopardising their ability to compete in both the NZV8 National Championship and our V8 Challenge Cup.”

Whilst Schedule TL cars will be the mainstay of the V8 Challenge Cup, there will also be a number of Schedule A-complying cars with different engines running in the Cup.  However the controlling element will be the mandatory usage of Hankook's 17" control tyre for all entrants and the policing of a minimum weight.

The V8 Challenge Cup cars will get the chance to test the new Hankook tyres at the official V8 SuperTourer Media day at Hampton Downs on the 10th February, in their own separate test sessions.

“We would like to thank Motor Sport New Zealand for their co-operation with regard to Schedule TL cars.  It is a very sensible decision and in the best interests of the many owners of NZV8s sitting around the country at the present time”, said Radisich.
