Skinny Colson has finished fourteenth in a class field at the prestigious 39th Annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup final at Skagit Speedway, Washington State, USA.
Graeme ‘Skinny’ Colson has a wealth of experience ‘down under’ and after 28 years of racing decided to have a crack at the US scene.
Colson did himself proud on the lightening fast high-banked clay oval. On Thursday night he totally annihilated the C main field winning by nearly half a lap. A fourth place finish in Saturday's B Main gave him enough points to qualify for the prestigious Dirt Cup feature finishing 14th in a class field.
Colson was driving in the US under the Redfern Racing banner in a 410 Sprint Series car supplied by US-based top Australian Sprintcar driver Peter Murphy. Redfern Racing is run by expat New Zealander Craig Parker, who owns Kiwi Transport, a Fresno (California) based trucking business.
When people say Skagit is a "fast" race track, they mean it. A fast time on the 3/10 oval on Thursday night was 10.9 seconds.
