Lawrence has confidence ahead of Manfeild

This weekends fifth round of the Suzuki Swift Sport Cup sees the field take to the track at the Manfield circuit in Palmerston North, and for Hamilton’s Shaun Lawrence it’s another chance to edge closer to fulfilling a pre-season goal.

“I’m just having an absolute blast. I tentatively said at the start of the year that if I could finish top five overall for the Championship I’d be over the moon. I’m sitting sixth at the moment, and I’ve driven both Taupo (the final round) and Manfield before so I’m much more confident going into the final two rounds” he said.

Lawrence is in the middle of an extremely tight points battle with Mike Turley and Scott Harrison who are immediately behind and in front of him on the points table, highlighting once again the extremely tight racing the Suzuki one-make class has become renound for.

Shaun Lawrence Racing are also extremely pleased to announce that coming on board to support Lawrence for the remainder of the season is Hamilton-based telecommunications company, Biz Tech.

“Shaun’s passion for the sport and genuine enthusiasm is great to see. It’s a shame we weren’t able to commit before now, but we’ll be doing everything we can to help Shaun achieve his goal and get him through to the final round” says Managing Director Craig Harrison.

Lawrence has made no attempt to disguise that fact that this has been a big year of learning for the series Rookie, with not only the car set-up to learn but also competing on a number of new circuits for the first time. Two consecutive podiums in the last two meetings has seen the teams quick learning rewarded by result – and a real shot at that pre-season goal.

Confidence in motorsport is everything. The Shaun Lawrence Racing team are still learning to get the best out of the car at every round, and their string of recent results is testament to the time, effort, and commitment they are putting in. The entire team is extremely grateful for all of the support they have received, and are looking for an even stronger showing to finish the season on a high.
