It's Wellington 's turn to host KartSport New Zealand's annual international race meeting, the 2010 CIK Trophy of New Zealand presented by Eyede NZ event being hosted by the KartSport Wellington club at its CRC Raceway at Kaitoke near Upper Hutt this weekend.

The CIK is the body which administers the sport worldwide and the CIK Trophy of New Zealand presented by Eyede NZ meeting offers drivers here the opportunity to qualify to compete overseas.

As such it has attracted a star-studded lineup of over 80 karters including two - Matthew Hayes and Ricky Capo - from across the Tasman.

Joining official body KartSport New Zealand and local club KartSport Wellington in presenting the meeting this year is Eyede NZ, a 100% New Zealand-owned company whcih specialises in software and card solutions.

"We are delighted to welcome Eyede NZ to our family of corporate partners," says KartSport New Zealand Development Manager Robert Hutton. "Eyede's business has a close fit with our major national sponsor partners Paymark and Gen-i."

Heading the 22-strong driver lineup in the premier KZ2 class at this weekend's meeting is defending title holder Ryan Grant with competition expected to come from fellow Aucklanders Graeme Smyth, Jason Farmilo and Richard Moore and Wellingtonian Karl Wilson.

Favourite, meanwhile, in the KF3 (Junior) class  - which has attracted a record 19 entries - is defending champion and 2009 CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific Championship #2 Arie Hutton with competition for him expected to come from fellow Aucklanders Bradley Hicks and Paul Blomqvist, Cambridge's Andy Schofield and Melbourne driver Ricky Capo .

As well as the CIK Trophy of New Zealand presented by Eyede NZ categories (KZ2 and KF3), Challenge Cup trophies will be up for grabs in four support classes, Senior 100cc Yamaha Light, Junior 100cc Yamaha, Junior Restricted 100cc Yamaha, and Cadet.

There will be activity at CRC Raceway on all three days with scrutineering and practice on Friday, tuning runs, Time Trials (qualifying) and heats on Saturday and heats, Pre-Finals (the race which decides the grid for the winner-takes-all Final) and Finals on Sunday.
