1969 Begg FM2 - Cars of the MSC Tasman Revival F5000 Series

George Begg is a name synonymous  with home grown Kiwi made racing cars.  The Begg FM2 was reportedly  his second F5000 car and it tasted success in the hands of the legendary (and  young) Graham McRae.  Buit in 1969 by Begg and Fred McLean it was raced by Graham McRae and Geoff Mardon in the 1969/70 season with McRae winning the Gold Star Series.

Then between 1970 and 74 it was owned and raced by Neil Doyle gaining third place in the 72/73 Gold Star Series.  From 1974 through to 1995 it was owned by Peter Rhodes and Colin Thompson but never raced.

Stuart Lush (who now owns a McRae GM1) bought and restored the car, racing it in the 1997 Wings and Wheels.  He on sold it in 2007 to the current owner and driver Kerry McIntosh who won first place in the 2007/08 Tasman Challenge Class A.

This car is powered by a 302cu in Chev with Weber downdraught carburettors developing 460 bhp.
