Prime Minister visits and approves of Hampton Downs

New Zealand’s Prime Minister, John Key, recently paid a special visit to the new Hampton Downs Motorsport Park in the North Waikato region.

Mr Key spent 90 minutes talking with Hampton Downs Managing Director, Tony Roberts, and staff at Hampton Downs and being driven around the national circuit. Mr Key was very interested in and impressed with the concept and potential of the Motorsport Park.

From the motorsport perspective, Mr Key was interested in the great potential for tourism and bringing money into the country by the ability to host international events at a world class venue. He was even more interested in the opportunities the complex will provide for driver training and the use of the skid pan and four-wheel-drive areas to help reduce the horrific costs of motor vehicle accidents in New Zealand.

“It was simply great to have our top man in this country take an interest in our sport and its potential for tourism as well as a practical hands-on venue for driver training,” said Roberts.
