Halliday at Silverstone this weekend in Porsche Supercup

New Zealand racing driver Matt Halliday heads to Great Britain this weekend to contest Round 6 of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. As usual, the race will be a major support event to the British Formula 1 Grand Prix being held at the historic Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire which has regularly hosted the British Grand Prix since 1951.

Although he has never raced on the 5.141 kilometre Formula I track being used this weekend, Halliday is no stranger to Silverstone having carried out New Zealand's A1GP testing duties on the smaller club circuit. He has also spent time familiarising himself with the circuit layout during CXC Simulator training at his base in California.

Halliday will be looking to make amends from his last outing in Turkey when he was involved in a first lap incident which saw him drop to 5th overall in the Championship points. He will also have added pressure to maintain Federsand-Jetstream Motorsport's top three position in the Teams Championship.

"We are now at the half way point of the Championship so it is essential to score good points for myself and the team from here on. Although Silverstone will be familiar surroundings for me it will still be a very hard weekend with considerable pressure to contend with" said Halliday on arriving in London.

Drivers will have a 45 minute free practice session on Friday afternoon and 45 minutes of qualifying on Saturday morning with the 14 lap race due to run late Sunday morning (all GB time).
