Kansas here we come

Ron's letter from America - 25th April 09*

Indy Car and Indy Lights racing at Kansas Speedway this weekend

I never thought I’d say this but I’m looking forward to getting back to ovals.  Normally it is the road courses that I love but the last two rounds have both been a hard day at the office for Scott and the team.

Last weekend at Long Beach another Australian got in his way.  Unbelievable really, it was on a caution lap and Briscoe punted him in the rear.  That spun him round and that was the race!

We were due to come in for a pit stop but the race went yellow (Safety-car) and we lost the advantage.  It was just one of those days.

Dario (Franchitti) the race winner and Scott’s team mate had the ultimate of luck.  He came in and pitted and then on his exit the course went yellow so he had the advantage of having pitted for fuel and fresh tyres.

Our Indy Lights drivers didn’t fare too well either.  The shocks went on the back of Jay’s car and Charlie (Kimble) our second driver was going really well and picking up a number of places.  But he made a mistake and turned the car around.  Wade (Cunningham ) didn’t finish.  He’s struggling also but it was an alternator that put paid to his race.

It is quite important that we have a good race this weekend.  It is the first oval of the season then we are straight into the month of May and the Indianapolis 500.

It hasn’t been a good start to the year.

More soon
